Introduced to North Mississippi's Hill Country Blues by his cousin, R.L. Burnside and Fred McDowell.

Played drums in his Uncle Othar Turner’s Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band for 30 years.

Picked up guitar in the 1980’s and released debut album in 2013.

Received 2017 Grammy Nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album for Roll and Tumble.

Performed in Europe and in several documentaries highlighting Northern MS musicians.
